V.29 Modem Datapump

V.29 modem datapump implements 9600, 7200 and 4800 bit/s QAM and QPSK modulation and demodulation according to ITU-T V.29 recommendations. Modem provides half-duplex operation over phone line, or full duplex operation over 4-wire leased line. V.29 modem is used in Group 3 (G3) fax for fax data transfer.

V.29 features:
  • 16-bit 8 KHz sampled data
  • Independent modulator and demodulator operation
  • C API, Multichannel code
  • PC demo version
V.29 fast connect procedure may be implemented on request.
Modem algorithm provide stable operation with high carrier offset up to +/- 80 Hz.
Mode was developed for TI 54XX DSP, porting to other DSP platform TI 55XX, 64XX, Blackfin and ARM is possible.

Official ITU-T recommendation V.29 is available at V.29 standard

V.29 demo version

PC demo version of V.29 modem datapump can be downloaded V.29 modem demo. Download, unzip and run file DemoV29.exe. On emerged window, press Tx Start button to run modulator or Rx Start button to run demodulator.
V.29 modulator modulates date, generated by repetition of the Info pattern 16-bit value and save waveform to file sig.bin, format is PCM, 16-bit signed, sampling rate 8000 Hz. Modulator has following options: Bit Rate, Carrier Offset, Signal to Noise ratio in the signal band, Info pattern.
V.29 demodulator demodulates waveform from file sig.bin and save data in the binary file out.bin. Signal constellation is shown on the screen during demodulation. Demodulator allows process arbitrary input waveform, just save it in the specified file name and format.
